Congratulations to our latest CFRE-certified professionals: Alexa Albrecht and Kimberly Bernard Karol!

“Preparing for the CFRE exam was truly rewarding, enriched by the wonderful mentors, now friends, I met through the CFRE Ambassador Program and at the AFP Review Session. (My gratitude for their time and guidance is never-ending.) I feel more grounded in our profession and my ability to carry out as well as evaluate strategies based on the theories, models, and principles that standardize our work. As we advance the nonprofit sector and the visions of our donors through excellent fundraising, it is important for our community to see us as trained professionals. I highly recommend pursuing the CFRE credential to anyone seeking to deepen their impact through meaningful philanthropy and relationships.”

Looking to get your CFRE, but still a little unsure? Or overwhelmed with how to prepare?

AFP Houston will be holding a CFRE Review Sessions on October 24, 2019 to help you prep by learning from those who have already taken it!

Check out Christine's CFRE Guide, AFP Houston Member who recently attended our Review Course and then took the exam and passed. Or read a Q&A with Adam Supgul, AFP Houston Board Member, who also received his CFRE last year. Read more about the Top 10 Reasons to Become CFRE-Certified. Lastly, read this Q&A with Alexa Albrecht:

What does CFRE certified mean to you?

“The CFRE commemorates your dedication to philanthropy, the donors you partner with and the communities who are impacted everyday by our hard work.”

Why you decided to get CFRE certified?

“I decided to get my CFRE because I felt it was an important, personal milestone for my career and helps verify the knowledge I have gained through various experiences over the years.”

What was your favorite part about the process?

“Honestly, I was a big fan of making flashcards in college and graduate school, so that was kind of fun to do again for studying! As far as building up the credits for my CFRE, my favorite part has been making connections with fellow fundraisers along the way who have mentored and encouraged me. Whether at courses, education luncheons, socials and more- I am always learning and very thankful to be a part of AFP!”

Why would you recommend other fundraising professionals to consider a CFRE certification?

“Not only is the CFRE a plus for your resume, but it instills confidence and great feeling of achievement for yourself. It takes dedication to spend the time and build up credits for the CFRE, so why not reward yourself if it is a possibility for you! I definitely think we need to encourage more young professionals in the field to go for it!”
