Howdy, everyone!

My name is Emily Tucker, and I am serving as the Treasurer for the AFP Collegiate Chapter at Texas A&M University for the upcoming school year. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in International Studies in May 2018. Now I am pursuing a Master’s degree at The Bush School of Government and Public Service with a focus on Nonprofit Management and a certification in Public Management. I always had a heart for charitable organizations and making a difference in the world. I am passionate about helping and empowering children, specifically in the area of foster care and adoption. After graduation, I plan to get a job in fundraising or event coordinating.

Due to AFP’s networking, I worked as a Development Intern at Boys and Girls Country of Houston this summer, helping raise funds for the children from families in crisis. I was able to learn valuable skills in communication and marketing, prospect research, and different fundraising techniques. I had the privilege of being a part of enhancing the volunteer coordination program and reporting on areas of growth for the organization. Boys and Girls Country is a Christian nonprofit organization; its mission is to change the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing them in a Christian home environment, raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults. I am very grateful for the opportunities AFP has given me to work for an organization that aligns with my passions. AFP has vast resources for networking, learning, and connecting with passionate members. I am proud to be a part of this organization.

I am looking forward to the upcoming school year to fully establish a collegiate chapter of AFP at Texas A&M.  AFP provides opportunities for students to learn and grow that are invaluable.  The nonprofit sector is an integral part of our economy, and with this new partnership, we hope to equip students with the skills and resources to become exceptional fundraisers. I am appreciative of the chance to grow in my fundraising expertise and to encourage other students to enhance their college experience through AFP.

Thanks & Gig 'em
