Following the excitement of the return of Ask the Experts this year, many fundraisers are fired up to get to work using the knowledge gained from the conference. We caught up with Eniye Elegon, who attended the conference for the first time, to ask her a few questions about her experience:

1)      Why did you choose to attend ATE?

I chose to attend ATE because I knew that it would be an investment in my professional development. I hoped to gain a broader understanding regarding development when I signed up.

2)      What was your favorite session and why?

The Art & Architecture of Powerful Storytelling was my favorite session, ultimately because there's an emotional aspect to giving. I learned how to convey my mission in a more powerful manner and give it life.

3)      What is one takeaway you are excited to implement in your current role?

One take away I'm excited to implement is getting out of myself and more into my message. Yes, making an ask can be terrifying no matter the amount, but it's important to remember why you're making it. It's not about you, it's about the people you serve. In my current role, I advocate for ALS patients and their caregivers - what I do is for them.

4)      Did you find ATE to be a good opportunity for networking?

I sure did! It was great to see familiar faces from the AFP Educational Sessions. ATE allowed me an excellent opportunity to network with individuals in my field. Ultimately, it was a beneficial experience over all.
