Philanthropy and the Human Spirit

Description: Effective fundraising is built on more than strategy and outcomes; it
is rooted in human connection, purpose, and trust. Drawing on more than 30
years of leadership in philanthropy across the performing arts, healthcare, and
higher education, and as the current Byron Welch Award recipient, Greg Robertson
will explore how honoring the human spirit strengthens donor relationships and
sustains long-term success.

Based on his experience leading record-setting campaigns at Houston Grand
Opera and major initiatives at Memorial Hermann and the University of Houston,
this session will examine how empathy, authenticity, and values-driven
engagement shape meaningful philanthropy. Participants will leave with a
renewed perspective on fundraising as both a disciplined practice and a deeply
human endeavor.
