AFP Houston October 2021 Education Session - Ethics in Fundraising

All fundraising professionals, whether they are development officers or grant writers, are bound to a code of ethics to advance their professions, enhance philanthropic support for their organizations and clients, and promote responsible volunteerism. To celebrate October as National Ethics Month, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Houston Chapter and the Southeast Texas Chapter of Grant Professionals Association are teaming up to bring you an interactive conversation about ethics in fundraising. The virtual session will be led by Dave Tinker, CFRE, FAFP, Vice President of Advancement, Achieva in Pittsburgh, PA. Dave is a certified Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Master Trainer and serves on the Grant Professionals Association’s Ethics Committee.

More about our speaker:

Dave Tinker, CFRE, FAFP is Vice President of Advancement at Achieva, an associate consultant with Goalbusters Consulting, and an adjunct professor of informatics at Muskingum University’s Master of Information Strategy, Systems and Technology (MISST) program.

A certified Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Master Trainer, he was honored by AFP International as one of the first six Distinguished Fellows. He also received the Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award from the AFP Western PA chapter.  He has held all but one board officer position for the AFP Western PA chapter at least once.  Currently he is an at large board member of the chapter.  Dave also currently serves on the Grant Professionals Association’s Ethics Committee, the AFP PAC Board, Brentwood Borough School Board of Directors, and is a youth sports coach.

Dave was one of the first to receive an M.P.A. with a concentration in nonprofit management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. He received a B.A. in chemistry and English and an MISST from Muskingum University. He is also a graduate of Leadership Works – Indianapolis, Class III, and the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities at the University of Delaware – Class 44.
