Cindy Atmar, CFRE

Senior Director of Trusts, Estates and Gift Planning

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

 

Cindy Atmar, CFRE, has held leadership positions for the American National Red Cross, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over a 30-year career. She speaks on the topics of gift planning, nonprofit leadership, major and blended giving, and serves as an instructor in planned giving at the Rice University Center for Nonprofit Leadership. Cindy has been a Certified Fundraising Executive Since 2003 and is a member of the National Association of Cancer Center Development Officers (NACCDO), the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and serves on the national board of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners. She is past President of the Charitable Gift Planners of Houston, founding Co-Chair of the NACCDO Planned Giving affinity group and was founding Chair of Community Health Charities of Texas. She resides in Houston with her husband Richard, their son Jack and a very fluffy German Shepherd named Gretel.

 

Steven Covington, CFRE, CAP

Director of Endowment and Planned Giving

The Houston Symphony


Over his 30-year career in the non-profit sector, Steve has established a planned giving program for a Wisconsin social service agency, launched a consulting firm focused on planned giving and endowment-building with clients throughout the Midwest, and led development teams during two capital campaigns at Louisiana State University. There he built a fundraising enterprise of highly professional gift officers who became adept at integrating planned giving into donor solicitation strategies. He served as president of the planned giving councils in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, La. Now at the Houston Symphony, he is building upon the success of a long-established planned giving program while coordinating staff and volunteer leadership for a campaign to boost the Symphony’s endowment. Steve and his wife have two adult children, a daughter in Dallas and son in Baton Rouge. He often can be found along the Buffalo Bayou Park trails, where he bikes and walks his German Shepherd Dog.

Jeffery L. McLain. MMC, CFRE

Senior Director for Gift Planning

Texas A&M University-Kingsville

 

Jeffery L. McLain, MMC, CFRE, is the Senior Director of Gift Planning at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. With 38 years of experience in higher education advancement, McLain has been part of campaigns that secured over $2 billion in private support.  He served on the national Board of Trustees for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and has served on various AFP Boards. He was recognized as the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser for Baton Rouge AFP in 2011.  He currently serves as the Program Chair for the Charitable Gift Planners of Houston.
